About Me

"Never judge a book by its cover..."

Here you can learn more about the girl at the keyboard-- me. Now, you probably see this page and figure I'm some kind of rocker chick or a girl who is only into darkness. Not true. The phrase "never judge a book by its cover" is a great quote when talking about me. If you don't believe me, just send a quick e-mail my way and ask any questions you may have.

Faith
<><
I was brought up in a Catholic home and remain a Catholic myself. I love God and thank Him each and every day for all that He has blessed me with. I went to Catholic school up until college and I don't regret a bit of it. Sure, the uniforms were sometimes a pain and the rules were strict, but I got to be completely open about my religion, attend mass, and be more free with my faith. All in this process, I was able to learn more about my religion and about the history behind it. Though most Catholics have a reputation for being against other faiths or unaccepting towards people who are different, again, the cover doesn't fit this book. I am pretty much accepting of everyone-- we're all people.

Background
My full name is Allison O'Neill. I was born in Baltimore, MD on May 22. I now live in a town called Shrewsbury, where there are neither shrews nor berries. I live with my mom, dad, sister, and rabbit in a house that my mother claims will never be perfect-- I think it's just fine. When I'm not at home, I am here at California University of PA, studying to become a veterinarian (I am a pre-veterinary major here). Some hobbies I enjoy include (but are not limited to): cooking, cleaning (I know, I am a housewife in disguise), watching and playing sports, reading, music, playing guitar, chatting online or on the phone, shopping (even though I am terrible at it!), animals, spending time with my family and my boyfriend.

Life and Love

I love my life, despite the stressful, hectic times or the rough patches. I couldn't ask for more.
There are times that I wish things were easier or less hectic, but without this excitement, life wouldn't be so wonderful.

The Places I love
I grew up in Baltimore, as I said before, and I miss living there so much. I loved the city, the Inner Harbor, and all it had to offer.
Another place I almost call my second home: Ocean City, MD. My family and I have been going there every summer for as long as I can remember. We stay at my uncles trailer, across the street from the beach. I've always cherished the memories of the boardwalk, the Ocean Art Gallery, the pool and beachside. Everything about that place, even the scent of sea salt in the air, makes me feel alive.
Myrtle Beach: I went there for the first time about two summers ago. The water is warm and the sand is very fine, making it incredibly soft. There are colorful beach houses all along the bayside (where we stayed) and a hammock and book was all I could really ask for.

The Boy that I Love

I fell in love in my junior year of high school and yes, there is a story behind our being together. We met in junior high and I took note of how quiet he was and decided to go and say hello. I did and he immediately told me to go away. To this day, he doesn't even remember the encounter, let alone telling me to go away. We remained in the same class throughout junior high and high school, and in our junior year, we were in the same homeroom and history class.

In the meantime, I had a friend who was considering asking him to the Sadie Hawkin's Dance-- a dance in which the girl asks the guy to be her date for a change. By this point, I thought he was pretty cute, but I wasn't going to interfere with her asking him to the dance because she was my friend. But then, he said no. He didn't want to go to the Sadie Hawkin's Dance. In the meantime, I'd been planning on an anti-Sadies get-together with my friend James. He was going to invite his friends and I was going to invite some of mine-- if I could find any who wanted to go. I invited my friend Erika and he invited his friends (now our group of friends) Chris, Dan, Kurtis, JimJim, and Steve. We went ice skating and had a really good time. Later, we played some arcade games and went for a walk to get some food. Towards the end of the night, I asked if anyone wanted to come to youth group with me the next day, even though I planned on leaving right after mass. The only person who wanted to or could go was Steve. I was pretty surprised by this-- the same boy who (in seventh grade, mind you) told me to go away now wanted to hang out with me.

The next evening, we met up after youth mass and left to go get food. After walking in the freezing weather to the Subway and finding it to be closed, we ended up at a Burger King and then on a park bench, talking about school, our families, all that jazz. We even talked about prom and the slim chances of either of us attending. It was getting on to be about 8 o'clock when I spotted a van driving up the street. It was the first car we had seen for some time, so I asked him what his mother's car looked like. "It's like a magenta mini-van" was his response and I pointed to the van and asked if that was it. He said no just as the van pulled into the parking lot across the street. We sat there, looking at the car and I was, of course, freaking out. He said, "It's just someone parking." But no. The highbeams came on and his mom stepped out of the car and told us to come with her. Not only did I accidentally call her by the wrong last name (his parents are divorced and so she does not have the same last name as Steve), but she informed us that all of the youth group chaperones as well as the police had been looking for us for the past two hours. We got into a lot of trouble and were scolded pretty badly for leaving to get food, but was it worth it? Oh yes.

PS- We ended up going to prom together that year and have been together ever since.
