Myra's Associations

Introduction to My Associations:

I belong to a tri-level association, with a national, state, and local level. This association is for all legal professionals who want to increase their knowledge and proficiency in the legal field. Continuing legal education (CLE) is heavily emphasized and members obtain CLE at all meetings. Once you have obtained a certification, there are mandatory CLE requirements to recertify. For example, to recertify your PP Certification, you must obtain 75 hours of CLE within a five-year period.

The local level is the first association one usually has the opportunity in which to be active. After serving on committees and holding officer positions at this level, one may wish to run for office on the State level. One has the opportunity to serve on national level committees at the same time as one serves on the local and state levels. The local association holds regular monthly membership meetings at a local law firm.

The membership meeting are dinner meeitings and feature:

        A Guest Speaker,
Attorney from one of the local firms
        (presentation--a legal topic),

The Business Meeting with discussion of charitable volunteering opportunities.
